How do I use barcodes in Maintmaster?
Maintmaster allows you to generate and manage barcodes for items/Spare parts and site objects. Barcodes can be used for identification, printing, and selection filtering. You can also apply a workaround to make barcodes functional in reports and ordering guides.
You can generate one type of barcodes in Maintmaster

2. Workaround to get barcodes to work in the system
3. Print barcodes
Start working with barcodes
If you use Maintmaster’s built-in barcode feature, the number and barcode on each item or object must match.
1. Open an object or item card
2. Verify the number field

3. Go to the Cost info tab and check that the Barcode column has the same number.
If yes, proceed to Print barcodes

Barcodes generated on objects or items can also be displayed in Selections by adding the Barcode column.

Workaround for using barcodes in reports and ordering guides
Barcodes are not directly supported in the Ordering Guide or Report Guide, since these views depend on the site object structure.
To make barcodes work here, ensure the Barcode field matches the Display value (Show as) field.
1. Create a selection containing the objects or items/Spare parts that need barcodes (preferably under a few hundred).
2. Go to File → Export and Import → Export data.3. Choose the selection you just created
4. Open the exported Excel file
5. In the Barcode column, enter or paste the objects or items/Spare parts unique number. For example, copy the object’s number (if it’s used in the display value). If the objects don’t already have numbers, you can assign them at this stage and use the numbers in the Barcode field
6. Save the Excel fil
7. Import the file back into Maintmaster.
8. Voila! The records are now updated with a well-functioning barcode!
The selected records are now updated with working barcodes.
Always test this process in your sandbox environment before applying it in production.
This is how you print the barcodes from the system
1. Open a object or item/Spare parts card
2. Click "Print"
3. Select the Labels tab.
4. Adjust layout settings and choose your printer from the list.
Your barcodes are now ready to print.

Other solutions
If you want to scan a code to open an object directly, you can create your own QR codes using external tools or websites.
Use the object’s number as the QR-code value to ensure a correct link to the corresponding record in Maintmaster.
