What is Rate Loss?

Rate Loss Definition in Maintmaster OEE

In Maintmaster OEE, Rate Loss occurs when a production line is running but producing below the defined production rate.

The expected production rate is configured for each product. When the actual output is lower than this expected rate while the line is running, the difference is recorded as Rate Loss.

Important notes:

  • Rate Loss is only calculated while the line is running.

  • For Live order only: When the line goes down, the time may temporarily appear as Rate Loss until the downtime event is closed and correctly categorized as downtime.

Example:

For Product 10203, the defined OEE Rate is 25 units per minute. If the line produces 20 units in one minute, the system records a Rate Loss of 5 units.

This represents the difference between the expected production and the actual output:

Expected production: 25 units/minute
Actual production: 20 units/minute
Rate Loss: 5 units

Although the loss is initially calculated in units, Maintmaster OEE converts this value into time, because all OEE calculations in the system are ultimately measured in minutes.
